Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon Photographs 2024
People watching, power up’s and pancakes.
On Sunday we headed out onto the streets of Leeds to watch the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, such an incredible show of community spirit and determination. My partner was in the race, and the children had spent hours making up ‘Super Mario’ signs for the runners to POWER UP! A sea of colourful runners, all pounding the pavement to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease, It was like a giant party with a purpose. The atmosphere was amazing! Cheers, high-fives and POWER UPS all around as everyone pushed themselves to the limit, rallying behind a true legend.
After a walk around Headlingly cheering the runners on, we sneaked off for some brunch (feeling a tad guilty sat in a nice a cafe eating pancakes when thousands of people are out there giving it their all!), then into the Leeds Rhinos Stadium to watch the finish line, making it just in time to see Kevin Sinfeld finish (former Leeds Rhinos teammate).
This was all just a big excuse for me to people watch, and try out my new little camera (Fuji X100VI), light as a feather honestly, compared to the last Marathon I photographed with my usual 2 camera set up. On this day I had 3 kids in tow and was shooting just for fun, so I wanted something much more travel friendly, I’m so impressed I think i’ll take it everywhere with me!
The Visitors is a street photography study of the vibrant landscape of life on the streets of York today.
