Visitors of York Street Photography

The Visitors, York.

The Visitors is a photographic study of the vibrant landscape of life on the streets of York today, the tourists who explore the city and their response to the environment around them.

If I were to show these photographs to you thirty years ago, it would seem very peculiar to see people viewing the world around them through tiny black rectangles, but here we are.

As I document the visitors, I realise that I myself am also the visitor, not of the incredible landmarks and historical artifacts but a visitor of the fascinating people that line the streets everyday.

This is an ongoing street photography project which started in June 2024, more images with be added over time. I’m fascinated by people from all walks of life and aim to expose real narratives and explore our understanding of people today. If you see me out in the streets of York come say hello, and feel free to join me!

Special thanks to Alice Chapman and Antonina Mamzenko of Made for documentary for their support and encouragement of this project. Forever grateful.
