Birthday Party Photography, Leeds Yorkshire

When you’re a mermaid, it’s your birthday and all your friends are invited…

It was touch and go for this little mermaid, whether the party of her dreams would go ahead as planned, the English weather being unpredictable as ever, (i’m often on standby for a slight location change / bad weather back up plan). But to all of our surprise, the sun decided to make an appearance and dry up the rain for this wonderful 5th Birthday garden party with all of the games and good times you can imagine.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I particularity enjoyed the bubble machine and snow storm, and like to get right in there in the action so that I can capture all the joy and expression from the children’s perspective, I’m 100% a child at heart so it’s a good excuse for me to get stuck in! There were face paints, actual mermaids, lots of games and an ice cream cart, what a dream!

Photographing this little get together reminded me of all the birthday parties I had as a child, and all of the friends I once knew, I’d love to have photographs of my little buddies and I all devouring jelly and ice cream around my parents dining room table. I hope that when these friends grow up, they get together and love seeing the memories of their early years and truly witness the joy, sillyness, connection and beautiful personalities shining through.

Here’s a few of my favourite photographs from the day…
